There are two basic types of the Sage issue. They are easily differentiated by looking at the inscription at the base of the design. In type I, the "N" of "INV" is beneath the "B" of "REPUBLIQUE". (This is also known as type III in some catalogues when referring to the later issues - 1898-1900). Type II has the "N" beneath the "U" of "REPUBLIQUE".
