There was an incredible amount of World War 1 material available. Here is some of what I was able to pick up:

A 10c sower carte-lettre cancelled at Brussels, Belgium addressed to the Darmstadt Prisoner of War Camp in Germany. It opens up.

|
| This is another piece involving Belgium - a pair of 10c red sowers canceled with the Belgian Military Post handstamp |

And yet another, this time sent from the military hospital at Besançon franked with a 15c lined sower:

I picked up this next one because I have never seen the PAR EXPRES handstamp used with sowers before. It is also marked Ministère de la Guerre, cancelled "LE HAVRE (SPECIAL) / SEINE-INFRE / 20-10 15," and has a faint boxed "EXPRESS FEE PAID 3D" in a violet-grey. A vertical pair of 25c blue cameo sowers and a 5c green paid the way.

I wonder what the Monistrol service d'interprête was sending to an abbey in Kentucky in 1918. I may never know, but they used a pair of 5c green cameo sowers printed on grande consommation paper and a single 15c lined sower to get it there.
